Scott A. Winer
// Executive Producer
Scott Winer is the Founder and Executive Producer of Scott Winer Productions. He established SWP in 2000 and has since overseen production, planning and development for all SWP projects.
A self-taught web designer and developer, Winer has built and maintained all of SWP's websites since 2003. In 2009, he began a comprehensive restructuring of SWP and its online outlets, streamlining divisions and building a new series of database-driven sites to distribute content more efficiently and effectively.
He also has a variety of experience in broadcast media, most recently as a camera operator for Fox College Sports' (FCS) coverage of Big 12 Football and a videotape logger for the NFL on CBS.
From 2008 to 2009, Winer served as Senior Producer of SWP's taped sketch comedy show Mildly Off the Wall and was the show's Lead Director. In 2008, he was the live feed director for the PBS-affiliate pilot The Dole Institute of Politics presents Neutral Ground, a courtroom-style discussion of a "timely and polarizing topic" hosted by Bill Kurtis.
He has been recognized for his work as a producer and director, winning a Telly Award and Davey Award for the 2005 variety show On'CUSE. He won the 2007 KAB Award for best undergraduate entertainment program for KU Q&A, a sports interview special that he created, produced and edited. In 2003, he was awarded two technical achievement honors from the Foundation of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for producing and directing high school basketball.
Winer has worked in various roles for CBS Sports, Fox Sports, ESPN, FSN, FCS, Westwood One Radio Sports, St. Louis Rams Radio, KUJH-TV (Lawrence, KS) and DomeTV (Syracuse, NY), including broadcasts of the 2008 AFC Championship, NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, 2008 Orange Bowl, and 2002 SEC Football Championship. He has directed nearly 200 live sports, news and music shows since 2000.
He has also worked as a freelance writer, proofreader and copy editor, assisting on a variety of projects including press releases, personal statements, professional biographies, curriculum vitae, online columns and medical journal articles. He is the author of "It's Pronounced Whiner," a blog he has written since 2004, and "Little Scottie," SWP's comic strip that appears regularly in The University Daily Kansan.
Winer currently hosts his own podcast, "No Relation" and co-hosts "The Bois," both of which he produces for SWP Radio. He has served as co-host and producer of "Smokey and the Bear", "Psych It To Me" and "The Oread Express" and as producer for "2 Dudez Chillin'" and "Enhanced."
He is a consultant for North Fulton Psychiatric Care, P.C., a private practice in Roswell, Georgia, where he led a rebranding effort in 2008. He was instrumental in launching the practice's first website, a psychiatry blog, podcast and Twitter presence.
Winer graduated from The University of Kansas in 2008 with a B.A. in Geography. As a senior, he used Geographic Information Systems to analyze NFL broadcasting rules in U.S. markets, including the league's blackout policy. He was born November 16, 1984, in Atlanta and resides in Lawrence.
